Project-Based Learning (PBL)

Project-based learning is a style of teaching that focuses on:

  • Key knowledge, understanding and success skills
  • Challenging problems and Questions
  • Sustained Inquiry
  • Authenticity
  • Student Voice and Choice
  • Reflection
  • Critique and Revision
  • Public Product

Project-based learning challenges students with real tasks and broad challenges. Students have to create projects to demonstrate what they’ve learned. PBL allows for hands-on, student-directed learning, and in-depth study. All PBL projects have a community component, where students demonstrate their work.
